The former Member of Parliament for Effutu, Mr Mike Hammah, on Sunday held his annual reception for children in Methodist Rafike Orphanage Home at Effutu Gyaahadze.
Mr Hammah, who was accompanied by his family and the constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), dined and danced with the children.
Addressing the gathering Mr Hammah expressed his appreciation to all and sundry who in diverse ways, supported him to discharge his duties when he was MP for the area.
Mr Hammah presented new dresses and shoes to the children of the Home, as part of his contribution towards the proper upkeep of the children, and assured management of the village of his commitment to continue to contribute his quota to sustain the village.
He expressed the hope that they will extend the same cooperation to the new Member of Parliament towards the development of the area.
Mrs Rejoice Dei Forson, Care Director of the Village, on behalf the Methodist Church Ghana, Management, staffs and the children, thanked Mr Hammah for the support he had been giving to them since the establishment of the village in 2007.
She mentioned provision of electricity and pipe-borne water to the area as some of the assistance he had provided to the Home.
Mrs Forson said the village started with six children six years ago and now has 33 children made up of 17 females and 16 males,
She appealed to philanthropists and other corporate bodies to support the village to cater for the unfortunate children.
