Minister commends ZoomLion for sanitation campaign

Wa, June 14, GNA - Alhaji Issahaku Salia, Upper West Regional Minister has commended ZoomLion Ghana Limited, a private Waste Management Company for its pro-active role in ensuring environmental cleanliness in the country.

Alhaji Salia said but for the effort of ZoomLion, the country would have been badly engulfed with filth and urged the Company not to be complacent but work hard to improve on its services.

The Regional Minister gave the commendation when a team of officials from the Company paid a curtsey call on him at his office in Wa.

The officials were led by Mrs Isabella Gyau-Orhin, Communications Manager of ZoomLion.

Alhaji Salia gave the assurance that government would continue to partner the private sector to ensure a clean environment to reduce sanitation related diseases.

For her part Mrs Gyau-Orhin said ZoomLion as part of its social responsibility had been organising series of educational programmes in various communities in the country on environmental cleanliness.

She said so far the Company had undertaken such programmes in eight out of the 10 Regions in the country with the remaining two namely Central and Volta Regions to benefit soon.

The ZoomLion Communication Manager noted that the programme included Moslem communities because of the importance of such localities to the socio-economic development of the country.

Addressing Moslems at the Central Mosque at Wa, Regional Manager of ZoomLion, Mr Emmanuel Volsuuri stressed the need for environmental cleanliness and pledged the Company's preparedness to fight for the course.

He said with the approach of the rainy season it would be prudent for the people to take measures to ensure that potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes were cleared and called for effective stakeholder collaboration to make that possible.
