The Ashanti Regional Minister, John Alexander Kwabena Ackon has advised students to develop renewed confidence in themselves when writing their examinations.
He said self confidence is the key operative word that gives rise to success in every engagement of human society and writing of examination is of no exception.
The Minister gave the advice during a tour to some of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) examination centres at Amansie West District of the Ashanti region.
Describing cheating in exam hall as an academic crime, Hon Ackon cautioned this year’s candidates in the region to refrain from activities that constitute exam malpractices and adhere strictly to the rules and regulations spelt out as examination guidelines.
The Ashanti Regional Director of Ghana Education Service, Mrs. Mary Owusu Achiaw who accompanied the minister said so far the atmosphere of discipline that characterized the examination process in the region is commendable.
She anticipated that there would be improved performance in this year’s results over the previous ones.
Meanwhile statistics available indicate that a total of 62 thousand 119 candidates from region are taking part in this year’s WASSCE at 132 centres.
