Minister inaugurates NVTI Board

Mr Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, has inaugurated a nine-member board of the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI).

The board has also been urged to partner with Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training to institute innovative ideas to improve the institute as well as create employment for the youth.

The board is chaired by Dr Malcom Josiah, a government appointee as well as Dr Frederick Addo-Abedi and Ms Gladys Mildred Quarshie also government appointees.

Others are Mr Stephen Amponsah, Executive Director of NVTI, Mr Theodore K. Gyau, and Mr Alex Frempong from Ghana Employers’ Association, Mr Daniel Antwi-Boasiako and Mr Isaac Yanney from Trades Union Congress and Mr Eugene Korletey from the Labour Department.

Mr Iddrisu assured the board of the government’s support since most unemployment issues had arisen as a result of unavailability of jobs.

He said it was incumbent on the board to be proactive and ensure that the institute operated effectively towards national development.

Dr Josiah thanked the Minister and President John Mahama for the confidence reposed in them and that the board would work assiduously to provide leadership by way of developing strategies to ensure efficiency in the sector.
