The Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Mavis Ama Frimpong Gati, has warned non-performing road contractors in the region, to up their game or have their contracts terminated.
She said she would not hesitate to recommend to the awarding authority to re-award any cocoa road project, being unduly delayed because of the lack of seriousness on the part of those awarded the job.
She gave the warning during an inspection of two of such cocoa roads – the 17 kilometre (km) Noyem-Wiaso-Amuana-Praso and the 14-km Chia-Brenase-Ofoase.
The Noyem-Wiaso-Amuana-Praso road is about 46 per cent completed while Chia-Brenase-Ofoase project is almost completed – 96 per cent of the job done.
Accompanied by a team of engineers from the Ghana Highways Authority (GHA), Mrs. Gati indicated that the roads would not only ensure smooth evacuation of cocoa from those areas but also boost the economic activities of the people.
She called for the contractors to do everything to complete the projects on schedule.
It was also important that to make sure that there was value for money, she said, adding that, poor quality job would not be accepted.
