The Ministry of Education has referred the tragic death of Master Richard Djamgbah, a pupil of the Suhum Aboabo Wonkier Presbyterian Basic School, who fell from a coconut tree to the police for action.
Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Education Minister, on Tuesday said the Ghana Education Service had instituted investigations into the report.
Master Djamgbah, was alleged to have fallen from a coconut tree and got paralyzed after his teacher forced him to pluck coconut fruit to enable him to quench his thirst, leading to the pupil's untimely death.
“Currently the issue has been referred to the police for further action. We strongly urge that we allow the law to take its course by reducing the hysteria even though this is understandable,” Prof Opoku-Agyemang stated on Tuesday, at the Ministry’s turn of the Meet the Press Series in Accra.
She also announced that tragedy also hit the Ministry when it’s Secretary, Jennifer Offei lost her life in the recent Accra floods.
The Minister extended her condolences to the bereaved families.
