Accra, Aug. 17, GNA- The Minister of the Interior has by Executive Instrument renewed the curfews imposed on the Bawku Municipality and Gushegu
Township and their immediate environs for another week with effect from Monday, August 17. The renewal was on the advice of the Upper East and Northern Regional Security Councils, according to a statement signed by the sector Minister, Mr
Cletus Avoka on Monday. The statement said the curfew hours for the Bawku Municipality and Gushegu Township remained unchanged and would be from midnight to 0400 hours
each day. The statement said: "The government continues to commend the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, the citizenry and the various factions to the conflicts for the
sustained peace in their respective communities." Government assured the people of its commitment to protect all parties to the conflicts as well as work with them towards finding lasting peace. The government therefore urged all the factions to unite and work towards achieving that goal. Meanwhile, the government has reiterated that there is a ban on all persons in the Bawku Municipal area, Zabugu, Binduri, Pusiga, Zoasi and Gushegu and
their environs from carrying arms, ammunitions or any offensive weapons, and any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.
