Sekyerekrom (Ash), Dec 28, GNA- The Asunafo District in Ashanti is to benefit from a further HIPC relief fund of 1.54 billion cedis. The District Chief Executive, George Yaw Boakye said the facility would be used for provision of 10 more classroom blocks in the district. Mr Boakye said this when he commissioned two school projects for Sekyerekrom and Abidjan both in the District.
A HIPC funded three-classroom block with a staff common room, an office, a store and latrines for the Sekyerekrom local Authority primary school cost 185 million cedis while the Abidjan local primary school is provided with a three-classroom block with other facilities worth 165 million cedis, funded with the assembly's common fund.
The District Chief Executive appealed to the beneficiary communities to take advantage of the numerous government and NGO interventions to bring formal education closer to their children of school going age. Mr Boakye reminded the recipients to vote massively for the NPP in the 2004 elections to enable it retain power and continue with its good work.
He also called on them to register with the mutual health insurance scheme when registration opens early next year.
Traditional leaders in the area pledged their support for the government and assured the District Chief Executive that they and their subjects would support any government, which has the interest of the people at heart.
