Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur, wife of the Vice President, on Thursday donated Christmas gifts to members of Mathew Chapter 25, a Catholic benevolent society providing care to people living with HIV at Koforidua.
The items included biscuits, sweets, bags of rice, sugar, cooking oil, soft drinks and some clothing.
Mrs Amissah-Arthur said the items were to support the home’s Christmas party on Monday, December 22.
Mr Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere, Eastern Regional Minister, said it was during such big occasions like Christmas that the deprived in society needed the most support from society.
He, therefore, thanked Mrs Amissah-Arthur for remembering the members of the home on Christmas.
Mr Antwi-Boasiako assured the members of Mathew Chapter 25 of the support of the Regional Co-ordinating Council.
Monsignor Bobby Benson, Founder of the Society, said Mrs Amissah-Arthur participated in the Christmas party for members last year and that the visit was the fourth of the Second Lady.
He said the society would also offer packed lunch to all patients on admission and staff on duty at the Koforidua Regional Hospital and Saint Joseph Hospital, as well as the needy sleeping at street corners.
He invited people who wanted to support their efforts to either donate items to prepare the food or offer their vehicles to carry the packed food to areas that they were to be served.
