Muslem community initiates school project

Through communal labour the people of Pakro-Aginasepiam Zongo community in the Akuapem South District in the Eastern Region, are constructing a school valued at GHS50,000.

The project was unveiled at a general meeting of the people at Pakro to discuss development issues.

Mr Yakubu Issifu, Assemblyman for the area told the Ghana News Agency that about 200 children of school going-age are at home due to lack of school infrastructure.

The school block comprised six classrooms, a kindergarten, office and store.

He said the project is dear to the heart of the people and would put an end to child labour in the community.

“Education is the key for development,” Mr Issifu noted.

Theophilus Offei, local Chairman of National Democratic Congress said each member of the community is contributing GH¢ 10.00 per a woman, GH¢ 20.00 per a man while non-residents are paying a flat rate of GH¢50.00.

He called on the Assembly, Ghana Education Service and central government to facilitate the completion of the project

Mr Offei asked government to provide a transformer for the community.
