Wenchi, (B/A) June 28, GNA - The Istiqaama Muslim Community of the Republic of Oman has donated five computers and other items worth 400 million cedis to the Aswaq School at Wenchi.
The items included five computers, beds, textbooks, library books, tables and second hand clothing.
Zahir Bin Khalipha, executive member of the community who presented the items, urged students and authorities of the school to take good care of the items.
He said the second hand clothing should be distributed to the needy and orphans.
Umar Adam Sulemana, the Director of the school who received the items, thanked the community for the gesture and called on non-governmental organisations and individuals to assist the school. He commended Alhaji Baba Musah, Assembly member of Kokroko electoral area at Wenchi, for facilitating the clearing of the goods without paying tax.
Alhaji Musah commended the Isqaama Muslim community at Wenchi and the government of Oman for the construction of a day care centre, a junior secondary school and a senior secondary school at Wenchi. He said the Oman government had promised to provide 200 bags of rice and dates to enable Moslems to celebrate the impending Ramadan festival.
