Muslims at New Ampabame have a new mosque

New Ampabame (Ash), Oct 08, GNA - A 200 million-cedi mosque, known as the Al-Furqan Central Mosque, for New Ampabame and its surrounding communities was inaugurated on Friday.

Sheikh Saood Ubaid Al-Zaidi, a Saudi Arabian philanthropist, funded the project, which was initiated by sheikh Ahmed Saeed Nkrumah, a Ghanaian Islamic scholar.

Nana Aboagye Agyei II, Ejisuhene and Mr Yaw Ahenkora Afrifa, the Ejisu-Juaben District Chief Executive, jointly inaugurated the mosque. Mr Afrifa expressed regret that because of the conduct of some bad nuts in the religion, a wrong perception has been created in certain quarters that Islam is a violent religion.

Islam, he said, is a very peaceful religion and it was crucial for the genuine faithful to expose the bad ones before they undermine the peace Islam actually stands for.

Nana Aboagye Agyei appealed to Muslims in the area to use the new mosque not just as a place of worship but also as a tool for forging unity amongst the various groupings within Islam.

He said they should go beyond forging unity amongst themselves to establishing cordial links with people of other faiths in their areas of resident.
