Muslims urged to keep environment tidy

Kumasi, Dec. 30, GNA - Sheikh Amen Bonsu, Managing Director of Amen Scientific Herbal Hospital in Kumasi on Saturday called on Muslims to protect the environment and keep their surroundings clean to prevent the outbreak of diseases.

He noted that Abraham was prepared to sacrifice his son Ishmeal for the benefit of mankind and society, 93Why cannot we do the same to save the environment which is being degraded at a fast rate". Sheikh Bonsu, who is also the Deputy National Imam of Ghana Muslim Mission (GMM) made the call when addressing members of the Mission at an open air prayer at Islamic Senior Secondary School Park at Ampabame, a suburb of Kumasi to mark Eid-Ul-Adha.

He called on them to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to enable them and their families enjoy affordable health care delivery.

Sheikh Bonsu stressed the need for the youth to lead peaceful and decent lives and refrain from promiscuity, drug abuse, indecent dressing and other social vices that would affect their lives and physiological development.

He urged the adherents to inculcate in them the spirit of hard work and support for community development, educational and health projects to enhance the socio-economic development of the country.

Imam Ibrahim Alkadi, Ashanti Regional Imam of the Mission who led the congregational prayers told the adherents to accept whatever situation they found themselves since everything came from God. He called on them to eschew immoral lives and lead lives that would bring peace and development to the country.

Imam Alkadi pointed out that service to the country was part of their religion it therefore behoved on Muslims to sacrifice for the development and survival of their neighbours and the country. He called on the congregation to take advantage of the Government's Capitation grant to secure a better future for their children.

Imam Alkadi urged Muslim youths to respect the aged and offer them all the needed support.
