Nkoranza (B/A), Jan. 19, GNA - Mr Hayford Francis Amoako, NDC Member of Parliament for Nkoranza has commended the government for creating two constituencies for Nkoranza, saying it would help accelerate the development of the area. Mr Amoako was speaking to newsmen at Nkoranza after meeting party
members to discuss plans towards the electioneering campaign for the general election. He appealed to all eligible voters in the constituency to register when the voters' register is re-opened in appreciation of the government's efforts. The MP announced that he would contest for one of the two seats this year but added that he was however, yet to decide on which one to file his nomination for. "I am hopeful of going back to Parliament after the elections as the greater number of NDC members in Nkoranza will vote for me", Mr Amoako said confidently.
Mr Amoako urged the people to guard against violent behaviour to ensure incident-free and peaceful elections in the area. He appealed to the Electoral Commission to be very transparent in matters concerning the 2004 general election to prevent confusion in the country. The MP advised the NDC youth to avoid negative practices that could cast a slur on their image as individuals or tarnish the reputation of the party. Mr Amoako declared that he was sure the NDC would emerge victorious, adding that the NPP should also have the courage to hand over if that should happen to sustain the maturity of Ghanaians in politics.
