NDC thug kills NPP woman’s baby

Information reaching the New Statesman indicates that a pregnant woman in Techiman who “dared” to explain why she thought the Mills-Mahama led National Democratic Congress government has been a monumental failure has had to pay for her frankness with brutal assault from an NDC thug, leading to pre-mature termination of her three-month old pregnancy.

Some sympathetic doctors of the Techiman Holy Family Hospital are still working around the clock to save the life of Lawrencia Owusu, a staunch member of the New Patriotic Party, who suffered severe bleeding following the brutal assault on her life by Atta Gonja.

According to the victim, Atta Gonja, the alleged NDC thug, perpetrated the dastardly against her because she had criticized the Mills-Mahama led NDC government and described it as “non-performing” during a live radio programme by local Techiman based ASTA FM. Madam Owusu told our reporter she was ambushed and subjected to severe beatings by Atta Gonja after she had closed from the programme and was going home. According to her, it took the intervention of some passers-by to prevent her assailant from killing her.

The case has since been reported to the Techiman police for investigation. This has been confirmed by the Techiman Municipal Police Commander, Antwi Gyau, who told our reporter the case was under investigation.

Meanwhile, the Techiman South Communications Director of the NPP, John Donyina, has charged the rank of file of the party to be prepared to face members of the ruling NDC boot for boot as the nation prepares for the 2012 general elections.

According to Mr Donyina, members of the NDC have made it clear that they are bent on employing intimidating tactics to cow NPP supporters into inaction.

He however served notice of the NPP’s resolve not to sit down and allow its members to always be at the receiving end of unprovoked assaults, urging the party’s activists to “defend” themselves anytime they come under attack from members of the NDC since, according to him, the police are not going to bring perpetrators of such violence to justice.

The Communication Director of the NPP said this was about the fifth time NDC goons had attacked NPP supporters without any provocation. He regretted that even though the attacks had been reported to the police, nothing had come out.

On the latest attack involving Mad Owusu, Mr Donyina warned that if the Techiman police failed to take the required action, members of the NPP would “advise” themselves. He further warned that if the NDC thugs continued to attack them, they would not sit unconcerned for a few hooligans to take the law into their own hands and disturb their peace, stressing that was exactly what Nana Akufo-Addo meant by his “All die be die” caution.
