The National Investment Bank (NIB) has donated an amount of GH¢20,500.00 to the Supreme Lions Club to enable it to provide a safer means of transport for underprivileged school children at Yatsovukope.
The donation, which is part of NIB’s Corporate Social Responsibility effort, would enable the Supreme Lions Club to procure about 100 life jackets, an outboard motor and a new canoe for the use of the school children.
Yatsovukope is an island community on the Volta Lake in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region, where school children cross the Volta Lake daily in boats, to and from school without life jackets.
The NIB made the donation to help mitigate any disaster on the lake.
The Club, which is part of the Lions Club International, is a social and humanitarian club, which has been at the forefront of offering sight to those whose vision are impaired through collaborations with various healthcare institutions worldwide.
Mr Wisdom Awittor, the Charter President of the Supreme Lions Club, received the cheque on behalf of the Club, from Mr Ernest M. Agbesi, Chief Executive Officer of NIB.
Mr Agbesi reiterated the bank’s commitment to support stakeholders, such as the Supreme Lions club, to help deprived communities since government alone cannot meet all the societal needs of the people.
Mr Awittor thanked NIB for the generous support and promised that the donation would be used for the planned activities.
