NORPRA Congratulates President John Dramani Mahama

Northern Patriots in Research and Advocacy (NORPRA) wish to congratulate the President, John Dramani Mahama for his resounding victory in the 2012 presidential and parliamentary elections and a successful inauguration.
As a vice president tasked with the responsibility of overseeing the implementation of some of the major pro-poor policy interventions of the government, he relentlessly worked incredibly hard to set up the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) with high level of commitment of a substantial amount of resources to it for its smooth take off.
It is important for the president to note that though there were equally good manifestoes and messages from the other political parties and candidates, the massive votes for the party by the vast majority of Ghanaians is ample practicable demonstration of the people’s absolute trust and confidence in the NDC leadership and an indication that the manifestoes of the party is realistic and achievable within the 4-year period, it is for this reason that NORPRA urges the president and his team to work hard to justify the confidence reposed in them
In conclusion, while wishing the president well and urging him to work assiduously to promote national unity and cohesion, it is the expectation of NORPRA that the president having tasted real poverty and acquainted himself very well with the realities of poverty and general underdevelopment in the northern part of Ghana, he will marshal the political will and continue the good work by ensuring that its campaign promises of
• Expanding SADA programmes especially in the area of climate change mitigation
• Establishing at least 10 new Colleges of Education
• Constructing 200 new Senior High Schools
• Setting up one shea nut factory in Upper East Region and another in Upper West Region
• Constructing the multipurpose irrigation dam at Pwalugu in the Upper East Region
• Establishing regional hospitals in Upper East and Upper West Regions
are all fulfilled within the next 4-year mandate to improve the lives of Ghanaians particularly the poor and vulnerable groups in northern Ghana.

Bismark Adongo Ayorogo,
(President)
