NPP cannot cheat in registration exercise

Asesewa (E/R), Feb. 24, GNA - The Eastern Regional Deputy Minister, Mr. Gustav Narh Dometey has debunked rumours that the NPP was out to rig the forthcoming voters registration exercise.

He explained that since all political parties will have agents to monitor the exercise at all the registration centres, it would be impossible for the NPP to do anything, which could lead to the bloating of the register, which the party condemned.

Mr Dometey was addressing a forum organized for market women at Asesewa in the Manya Krobo district on Monday to educate them on government policies and the voter's registration exercise.

The forum was the second in series of a number of sensitisation activities being embarked upon by the Minister who declared his intention at the forum to contest the parliamentary seat for the Upper Manya constituency in the coming elections.

He asked the people to ensure that they register when the exercise opens next month and vote for the NPP government in the coming elections to reap the full benefit of good democratic governance that the country was already enjoying.

Mr. Dometey said the NPP government had the welfare of women at heart and that it was leaving no stone unturned to improve the lot of rural market women and urged them to rally behind the party to retain power in the coming elections.

He outlined a number of projects that had been earmarked to be undertaken by the District Assembly including the rehabilitation of the Asesewa market in phases, roads around the market and expansion of a warehouse for their goods, which had been at a standstill for the past two years.

Earlier, the Deputy Minister paid a visit to the Asesewa hospital to inspect facilities there and to interact with the staff and the patients on admission.
