The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Candidate for Suhum in the Eastern Region in the 2024 general elections has won the parliamentary elections, the Electoral Commission has declared.
The Returning Officer for Suhum announcing the collated results at the Tesano Police Training School in Accra Thursday evening, declared Frank Asiedu Bekoe winner with 16,855 votes with the NDC's Prince Addo garnering 15,259 votes.
Two Independent Candidates, Emmanuel Dede Wiafe and Kwadwo Asante, the NPP Member of Parliament for the area, recorded 159 and 14,850 votes respectively.
After losing to Frank Asiedu Bekoe, also known as Protozoa, in the parliamentary primaries, Kwadwo Asante ran as an independent.
The results represent collated results from 160 out of the 166 polling stations in the Suhum Constituency.
The Returning Officer explained that the annulment of the six centers was in agreement with agents of all the participating Candidates.
The relocation of the exercise to Accra and subsequent re-collation followed disagreements over the earlier collation at Suhum over the weekend.
The Suhum Constituency was one of four Constituencies where the declaration of the results was put on hold.
The other three are Akwatia, Fanteakwa-North, and Nsawam-Adoagyiri.
