Ho, Dec. 10, GNA - Jubilant youth, mainly members of the Nasara Club in Hohoe, poured on the streets on Thursday night to celebrate the victory of President John Agyekum Kufuor in last Tuesday's polls.
They sang, danced and yelled slogans as they moved to the residency of the Hohoe District Chief Executive, who held a reception for them. The celebrations even started ahead of the official declaration by the Electoral Commission when Mr Peter John Amewu, defeated NPP candidate for Hohoe-North, hosted supporters to a party to mark the 66th birthday of President Kufuor.
The all-night celebrations were held against the backdrop of muted discontent among a vast majority of people in the region over the polls results, which their favourite candidate, Professor John Evans Atta Mills of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lost.
There were also pockets of jubilation in Ho, the regional capital, along the principal streets.
The celebrants, some in pickups, draped in party colours, paraded the streets as the disinterested populace looked on.
