Social Remembrance Day Spouses of veterans to benefit from microfinance loans

Takoradi, Nov. 12, GNA - Ms Betty Bosomtwi-Sam, Deputy Western Regio= nal Minister, on Thursday pledged to assist the wives and widows of veterans in the region, to access loans from the Microfinance and Small Loan Centre. Ms Bosumtwi-Sam made the commitment at the 65th Remembrance Day Serv= ice held in Takoradi, to commemorate the fallen heroes in the two major world=

wars. She noted that, any nation that did not honour its heroes was not wo= rth dying for, hence the zeal of the government to better the lives of the ex-servicemen. Ms Bosomtwi-Sam said government had secured a contract with a pharmaceutical company in Egypt to supply pharmaceutical products to the Veterans Association of Ghana, to sell to members in order to generate revenue from the sale of affordable drugs. Mr Kobina Pra Annan, Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive, unveiled plans to build a new administrative block for the veterans. 12 Nov. 10
