Mamponteng (Ash), July 4, GNA- Nana Detoh, Kwabre District Director of the Town and Country Planning, was on Tuesday elected chairman of the Kwabre district branch of the Civil Servants Association (CSA) at a bye-election held at Mamponteng in Ashanti.
He polled 19 votes out of the 38 votes cast to beat Mr Kwame Nurideen of the Controller and Accountant-General's Department who had 10, while Mr Augustine Atta-Adade, the District Social Welfare Officer, obtained nine votes.
The bye-election came about following the transfer of Mr Haruna Baba Salaam, Kwabre District Deputy Co-ordinating Director who was then the chairman.
The association also elected Mr Kwame Nurideen as the vice-chairman of its Savings and Loans Scheme and Mr Emmanuel Otoo of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture as secretary.
In an address, Mr Kwame Asamoah Dwomoh, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the CSA told the new officers that though the work was voluntary, it was challenging and that they should be committed and dedicated to work.
He said the Ashanti region has been a pacesetter in the activities of the association and called for co-operation and collaboration to maintain the region's position.
Nana Detoh, who is also a lecturer at the Department of Planning, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), thanked members for the honour done him and said he would do what he could to raise the image of the association in the district.
Nana Detoh, who is also the Nkosuohene of Asonomaso in the district, said he would cooperate with the District Assembly to provide decent accommodation for civil servants.
