The New Juaben Municipal Assembly, has approved the President's nominee, Mr Kwabena Okyere Kusi, as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), at a special Assembly meeting in Koforidua.
He polled 60 out of the 77 total votes cast by members of the Assembly present, to confirm his nomination to the position.
The voting was conducted by the Eastern Regional Office of the Electoral Commission (EC).
His confirmation followed the removal last November of the former MCE, Dr Kwaku Owusu Acheampong.
Prior to the election, the Regional Minister, Mr Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere, urged the assembly members to vote without any dissent for the nominee, as a mark of respect and confidence for the President who nominated him.
He said the President acted in the interest of the people in New Juaben, in appointing the nominee, and therefore urged the people to support his choice with an overwhelming endorsement.
After the confirmation, the Regional Minister thanked the assembly members for the smooth conduct of the election and the endorsement.
Mr Kusi, in an acceptance speech, thanked the assembly members and all stakeholders for supporting his nomination.
He pledged to work in unity with all to bring development and improvement to the people of New Juaben.
