Koforidua, Oct 07, GNA - Mr Alex Asamoah, the Municipal Chief Executive of New Juaben, said on Friday that the assembly would not renege on its responsibilities to undertake development projects. He said it was against this background that the assembly had undertaken projects including classroom blocks, health centres, road potable drinking water in communities in the municipality. Addressing the Second Ordinary meeting of the assembly in Koforidua, Mr Asamoah said the projects were aimed at raising the standard of living of the people in line of their mission statement. Other projects the Assembly had undertaken are a beads market, Apimpoa Municipal Assembly Primary School building, Jumapo Presbyterian Primary School, Roman Catholic and Presbyterian Primary Schools both in Koforidua.
Te rest are a six-unit classroom block for Saint Anne's Anglican school, a six-unit classroom block for the Effiduase Roman Catholic and Asokore Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Demonstration Primary schools. Mr Asamoah said the assembly was in the process of rehabilitating some urban and feeder roads in the municipality through reshaping and spot improvement. On security, he said the municipality had remained calm and commended the police and the military for the good work done to clamp down on some few miscreants who had wanted to operate in the municipality. On the School Feeding Programme, Mr Asamoah said it was found out that some deprived schools were not considered under the programme resulting in the withdrawal of sponsorship package by the sponsoring agencies.
Mr Asamoah said the New Juaben Roman Catholic and Presbyterian Cluster of Schools in Koforidua had been taken off the programme and schools like Asikasu Municipal Primary, Akwadum Islamic Primary, Akwadum Municipal Primary, Akwadum Roman Catholic Primary and Trom Municipal Primary schools had been brought on board. On health, he said the National Health Insurance Scheme was on course and that as at the end of August 2011, membership stood at 65,578 as against 45,612 of the previous year.
