Asuom, July 6, GNA - The Kwaebibirem District Chief Executive, Mr Reginald
Aboagye Osae, has promised the Asuom Senior High School that the assembly would
rehabilitate the school's assembly hall. Speaking at the inauguration of a 13-member Board of Governors for the school, the
DCE said he was unhappy about the state of the hall and there was the urgen= t need for its
rehabilitation. On the school's request for a bus, he said he would liaise with the Ghana Education
Trust Fund (GETFUND) for a release of a bus for them. Mr Osae said since no nation could develop without the improvement of its human
resource base, the board, staff, students and other stakeholders should work together to
improve academic work and ensure high level of discipline. Inaugurating the board, the Eastern Regional Director of Education, Mr= s Rene
Boakye-Boaten thanked members for accepting the call to serve on the board in spite of
their heavy schedule. She thanked past and outgoing members of the board for the meritorious service to the
school and said they deserved heartfelt gratitude. Mrs Boakye-Boaten observed that the new board was taking office at a time the school
faced challenges such as the lack of infrastructure and the need to strengthen the Science
and Mathematics departments. She asked the board to hold regular meetings and send annual reports and ensure
discipline among both students and staff. The Regional Director however advised the Board not to encroach on the work of the
headmistress in the day-to-day running of the school. She also advised the board to help address the concerns of both the teaching and non-
teaching staff and cooperate with the staff, students and the local community. Mrs Boakye-Boaten noted that the work of members of the board was mainly
sacrificial and sometimes it involved members making financial contribution= s to help the
school. The headmistress of the school, Mrs Victoria Agyapong, who assumed dut= y last
December, said she would strive to make the school one of the best in the country. She said measures had been initiated to improve upon discipline and academic
standards.
