New classroom block for Agona Amanfo inaugurated

Agona Amanfo (C/R), Oct 24, GNA - A three classroom block estimated at 160 million cedis constructed by the Agona District Assembly for the Amanfo DA Primary School has been inaugurated.

Mr Ben Mensah, District Chief Executive (DCE), speaking at the inauguration said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government was committed to ensure that every child of school going age should get access to quality education.

He noted the government was determined to improve the human resource development to promote socio-economic advancement of the nation.

The classroom block was constructed last year with money from the Assembly's share of the common fund.

Mr Mensah presented a 29-inch Colour television set to the Amanfo DA Primary and Junior Secondary School for the pupils and students to access the President's Special Initiative (PSI) on distance education. He noted that the capitation grant by the government was to help parents to send their children to school and urged them to provide their basic needs.

Mr Mensah asked the people to continue supporting the government and to exercise restraint since the nation's economic difficulties could not be solved over night.

Mr Prince Edward Kofi Ntsiful, Headmaster of the JSS, thanked the government for the TV set and promised that it would not be put in room but used for the purpose it had been given.

He appealed to the District Assembly to construct additional classrooms for the JSS since some students who studying under a shed roofed with palm fronts.

Mr Ntsiful stated that the non-availability of enough classrooms was affecting the academic performance of the students.
