Newmont Akyem Mine Supports To Communities

Newmont Akyem mine has pledged their continious support to communities within their operational areas as part of their coperate social responsibility in order to impact positively on the lives of citizens hence the formation of Newmont Akyem development foundation(NAkDeF).
Mr. Paul Apene speaking to the media at New Abirem at a press briefing emphasised that his outfit currently has accumulated over 13 million cedis as of may this year.
" we are focus on human resources development, infrastructure projects, cultural heritage, economic empowerment, local grant making, sports and youth development and natural resource protection" he added.
Mr. Apene said the NAkDeF was agreement signed between his outfit and all the community leaders as well as other stakeholders with the vision of promoting development agenda of the areas.
External relations manager, Oduro Kwarteng Marfo in his presentation said the company has over the years assisted communities in terms of health care, education, water projects, sanitation, security and others. He mentioned provision of maternity wards, doctors and nurses bungalows, police transit office and vehicles for the service, school blocks, as well as water projects as some of their achievements.
On sanitation, he stated that an ultra modern engineered landfill, 8no. vault chambers and 300 household laterines have been provided to the various communities. He said they have also constructed bungalows and structures including ultra modern operating theatre.
Mr. Oduro Kwarteng pledged his outfit would continue to have sound working relationship with all key stakeholders on a foundation of trust and mutual respect.
However, the company was adjourned Best safe mine Ghana in 2014 whiles reforestation commitment has also started to reclaim back lands.
