Nkoransa North and South Districts are gearing up for the District Level (DL) elections slated for April 11, 2017.
The district level elections in the two districts were postponed indefinitely in September 2015 following agitations and threats in the area by customers of the infamous DKM Microfinance Company whose monies were lost.
Subsequently the two districts had been operating for the past two years without Presiding Officers and Assembly Members.
As a result of the threats, the Brong Ahafo Regional Security Council which was then headed by the former Regional Minister, Eric Opoku, advised the Electoral Commission (EC) to postpone the elections because of the tension in the area which the EC complied
In an interview with the media at the weekend, Director of Electoral Commission (EC) at Nkoransa, Ekow Essien, said his outfit was preparing feverishly towards the elections.
He revealed that they have begun training for both permanent and non-permanent staff, whom he said will play a key role in the elections.
Also the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has intensified its public education ahead of the elections.
