Norwegian Ambassador visits Osu Mantse

It was a blend of traditional, cultural and business interactions as the entire members of the Osu Traditional Council received a delegation from the Norwegian Embassy.

The Norwegian Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Gunnar Andreas Holm and his wife paid a courtesy call on the Osu Traditional Council led by the Paramount Chief, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI who doubles as the President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs and a Member of the National House of Chiefs.

The gathering which was held at the Osu Mantse Palace was centered on traditional, cultural and business opportunities yet to be exploited by the two factions.

Addressing Members of the Traditional Council, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI revealed that his main priority is to educate all children of school going age inĀ and around the Osu community adding that the Osu educational committee formed to stir the affairs of education in the community will help make it a reality.

"I have also introduced various Award schemes to entice and encourage the young people to embrace my educational policies which includes Technical, Vocational training and Artisanship" he noted.

Touching on tourism, the Osu Mantse emphasized how Tourism can be a powerful tool for transforming an entire community by creating jobs and several other opportunities for development.

"I had a meeting with the minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and other stakeholders to incorporate a museum of antique" he added.

Nii Dowuona VI also proposed for collaborated efforts from the stools, embassies and the government for an accelerated development adding that Osu lands are the most primed in the country because it hosts the seat government, several national institutions, prominent businesses and historical sites including the Christiansburg castle and the Usher Fort.

The Ambassador His Excellency Gunnar Andreas Holm in a brief statement reiterated the importance of his visit touching on the existence of mutual understanding between Ghana and Norway dating back from over two hundred and fifty years and expressed his gratitude to the Paramount chief and the traditional council for the warm reception and called for deepened mutual collaboration in the future.

Mrs. Hilda Rosberg the wife of the Ambassador also expressed her gratitude to the Paramount chief as she received a gift of Kente cloth, Ahenemaa and other traditional ornaments.

A member of the delegation Mr. Fred Pappoe the advisor to Norwegian Embassy in Ghana thanked the entire members of the Traditional Council for the wonderful reception.
