Nursing officers appeals for accommodation

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Nov. 4, GNA - Mrs Mary Amoateng, a Principal Nursing Officer at the Dormaa District Directorate of Health Services has identified lack of accommodation facilities a major problem confronting many health institutions in the country.

She therefore, appealed to the Government to urgently address the problems to enable more trainees to attend Nursing Training Colleges. Speaking in an interview with Ghana News Agency at Dormaa-Ahenkro, the nursing officer said many qualified applicants were denied the chance to enter Nursing Training Colleges this year as a result of the problems.

She urged the Government to release part of the HIPC funds to the health sector to help train more health personnel, especially nurses. On the exodus of medical officers and nurses, Mrs Amoateng called on the Government to offer attractive and incentive packages to them to curtail the practice.
