Nyinahin Catholic SHS gets cadet corps

Nyinahin (Ash), Dec. 18, GNA - Lieutenant Colonel Richard Ahey of Four Battalion of Infantry (4BN), has urged schools' cadet corps to let discipline become their hallmark because that this is the way to success. He said they should see themselves as tools for harmony and orderliness in their institutions.

He was speaking during the inauguration of the Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School (SHS) cadet corps at Nyinahin in the Atwima-Mponua District.

Lt Col Ahey, who was the reviewing officer, announced plans by the Ghana Armed Forces to undertake critical evaluation and assessment of their performance.

He said the military as an institution thrives on discipline and since the cadet corps had chosen that virtue, they have a responsibility to help school authorities to maintain law-abiding and peaceful environment. Mrs Theresa Adomako Tawiah, the District Chief Executive, cautioned them not to arrogate to themselves any special powers and avoid being confrontational.

They should provide leadership to help their peers to behave well not only in school but their communities.

Ms Peace Donkor, the Assistant Headmistress, said the formation of the cadet corps has brought life, zeal, excitement and discipline among students. She said the school has not limited itself to only academic work but placed value on the physical, moral and social development of the students.
