Nzema students to hold maiden forum

The National Association of Nzema Students (NANS-GHANA) is scheduled to hold its maiden edition of their annual student’s conference at the Half Assini Senior High in the Jomoro District of the Western Region.

The conference, which is under theme “strengthening the students’ front, the role of stakeholders”, will be held on December 29th, 2011.

The conference is targeted at all students of all levels including JHS, SHS, Nursing, College of Education, Polytechnic, and the University.

The National President of the association, Nicholas Ndiako, disclosed that the forum is aimed at bringing students together to deliberate on relevant issues pertaining to the development of the Nzemaland and the nation at large.

He added that the forum would seek to bring to attention, issues that need national discourse.

This, he mentioned as, the state of the Kwame Nkrumah Educational Trust Fund and its impacts on students in the area as well as the corporate social responsibility role played by gold mining companies in Ghanaian communities.

Mr. Ndiako called on all students within and outside the area to support the association in achieving its goals of spearheading the student wing of the Nzemaland.

On his part, the National Organizer of the association, Mr. Stephen Adenyinah Minlah, urged all to support the association to fight for more development in the area.

He tasked students to refrain from meddling the activities of the association with politics but must rather champion the cause of advocating for more development in the area, especially at this crucial moment where the natural gas is to be extracted from Nzemaland.

The Chairman for the occasion, a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Development Studies, Professor Sagari.K. Nokoe, is expected to lecture on the topic “Improving on the Standard of Education in Nzemaland.”

The Member of Parliament for Ellembele and a Deputy Energy Minister in charge of petroleum, Mr. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, would be the guest speaker for the forum.

He will be speaking on the topic “The Prospect of Ghana’s Oil Find and Its Impacts on Education.”

Others speakers include a retired Western Region Director of Education, Mrs. Afiba Dadzie, would also speak on the topic, “Girl Child Education and Development.”

The event is expected to be attended by all heads of senior high schools in the Nzema area, DCES / MCES of the three districts, assembly members of Half Assini district assembly as well as District educational directors and coordinators.
