An accident involving a tractor, tico taxi cab and bus with registration number AS 699U last night occurred at about 9;30pm occurred at Ahenfi on the Techiman Nkoranza road, near the municipal education directorate leading to the injury of nine people on board, the driver included.
Narrating the tragedy to classic news, an eye witness, Mr. Akwasi Appiah said the taxi cab and the tractor were all heading towards Nkoranza whiles the O.A was also coming from Nkoranza loaded with passengers on its way to Accra.
However in an attempt to overtake the tractor by the tico it nearly collided with the bus but fortunately on her part when it swerved to a small space available then but luck eluded the bus driver when it had collusion with the tractor forcing it to split and scatter causing an instant darkness in the area. According to the eye witness since the transport was on tough speed the driver could not control the situation and as a result went straight to a near by house pulling down a portion of it. he explained that a number of people who were then by the road side have to run for their lives but even with that some few ones fell into a ditch sustaining minor injuries.
Mr. Appiah lamented that with the help of youth in the area all the passengers on board were quickly transferred to waiting taxi cabs to the Techiman holy family hospital for treatment. To the amazement of all those who witness the scene the taxi driver who caused the tragedy sped off to Nkoranza direction of the road. Meanwhile no one was in the room when the tragedy occurred. Later information made available to class news by some police men who were carrying out their night check few meters away from the accident spot, the driver of the transport was stopped for usual motor check but flouted over road safety regulations and sped off.
At the Holy Family Hospital, emergency unit, the nurse on duty, Madam Dassa reiterated that so far nine of the victims have called on the hospital for medication. She said some of them are in critical conditions with others having minor injuries. Efforts made by this reporter to interact with the driver who had had a deep cut on his forehead and fracture on the left arm proved futile as a result of his condition. At the time of leaving the hospital at about 10; 00pm almost all the victims were responding to treatment. However the relatives of the accident victims were also seen at the hospital gate trying to locate their dear ones.
