OSIWA donates to six organizations

Accra April 11, GNA - Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) an organization that advocates for basic freedom for everyone in the society on Monday donated four vehicles and some items worth 1.7 billion cedis to six organizations.

The beneficiaries were the Forum for African Women Educationists (FAWE), Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA), Matthew 25, an Association of People living with HIV/AIDS, the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), School of Communication Studies and the Registrar of the University of Ghana.

Nana Tanko, Executive Director of OSIWA, presenting the items said all the organization were doing very well in terms of humanitarian services which were related to the vision of OSIWA hence the support to encourage them to continue in the good work.

She said OSIWA was proud of the activities of FAWE Ghana hence the vehicle to help reach the people at the grassroots. FOSDA and Matthew 25 also received one vehicle each to help in their job.

GIJ received a Camcorder and accessories, a DSR recorder, Television set and the VCD, while the School of Communication Studies received a computer, VCD and tape recorders. The Registrar received a DSR recorder and the Fast binder to help him in his work.

Nana Tanko said the donation followed a similar one to the National Reconciliation Commission (NRC), which she commended for the prudent way it managed the resources saying, "they have encourage today's donation". Ms Esi Sutherland Addy, a board member of OSIWA urged the beneficiary organizations to frequently furnish OSIWA with information about their activities.
