Kumasi, June 2, GNA- The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of the Opoku Ware Secondary School (OWASS) in Kumasi, has appealed to the members of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), to end their strike action while their leaders continued negotiations with the Government to resolve the impasse.
The PTA has also appealed to the Government and other stakeholders to ensure that NAGRAT resumed work to assist students preparing for the Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE).
The appeal was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by Mr John K.Y.Damptey, chairman of the PTA.
The PTA said the on-going strike by NAGRAT, three weeks ago, since the re-opening of the secondary schools, had become a source of worry to most parents since the action could affect the performance of students, especially those who would be writing the SSSCE in less than a month. The statement said the tough stance taken by the NAGRAT would reverse all efforts by the government to raise the falling standards of education.
