Obuasi, Dec. 18, GNA - Two three-classroom blocks with offices, stores and staff common rooms built at a of GHC 96,000 have been handed over to the Obuasi Municipal Assembly (OMA) by the contractors at separate ceremonies. The first is the Nana Ponko Junior High School at Kunka Junction built by Jubilee Contractors Ltd. And the second is a new public school for the Asonkore community constructed by Akwasi Fosu Enterprise.
Mr John Alexander Ackon, the Municipal Chief Executive, said the assembly was determined to ensure that all school buildings were in proper shape to help promote teaching and learning in the municipality. He said the assembly was collecting data on school infrastructure to assist in developing a comprehensive municipal operational rehabilitation plan which would be used to provide the infrastructural needs of the schools. He commended the two contractors for the good job done but reminded them that for the next six months any structural problems on the buildings would be addressed by them.
Mr Joseph Kwame Appiah, Deputy Director in-charge of Guidance and Counselling, urged the teachers to work harder to justify the investment the assembly was making to improve education in the municipality.
