Obuasi DCE lauds Assemblies of God Church for role in coronavirus fight

The District Chief Executive for Obuasi East District Assembly Hon. Faustina Amissah has expressed her sincerest appreciation to the leaders of the Assemblies of God Church in the Obuasi East District for their contribution towards combating the COVID-19 Pandemic in the District.

She said this when the church presented Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the Obuasi East Health Directorate on Tuesday May 26, 2020.

The items included alcohol based hand sanitizers, N95 and locally made nose masks.

Hon. Amissah used the opportunity to advised the general public to adhere to the preventive measures to avoid contracting the disease.

The DCE again asked the general public to eschew stigmatizing people who have recovered from the disease. She charged the Churches to play leading role in fighting against stigmatization in our society.

Presenting the items on behalf of the church, the Obuasi East District Pastor of the Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Samuel Hammond noted that the donation made by the church was to complement the District Assembly’s effort to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the District.

Rev. Hammond advised the people of Obuasi to observe the precautionary measures and support in the fight against Covid-19 and also seized the opportunity to commend the health directorate for their commitment and sacrifices towards fighting the virus.

The items were received on behalf of the Health Directorate by the District Health Director of the Obuasi East District Madam Delphin Gborgblorvor. In her remarks, she expressed her gratitude to the church for their support to combat the spread of the virus.

She also talked about the role of Faith-based organization in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic. Madam Delphin assured that the items would be used for their intended purpose to curtail the spread of the disease in the District.

The District Coordinating Director for Obuasi East District Assembly Mr. Emmanuel Ntoso was also present during the presentation of the items.
