Offinso town roads get major facelift

Major roads in Offinso, the capital of the Offinso Municipality, have been given a facelift under an Urban Development Grant (UDG).

The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Harona Yussif, disclosed that about GHC300.000 has been invested into the re-sealing and reshaping of the about an average of eight kilometres of town roads within the capital.

He stated that out of the eight kilometres, 2.4 kilometres was done by the Government of Ghana (GoG), and mentioned that some of the major roads that benefited from the package include Agriculture junction to Kokoti lorry Park, and Amoadam to the Offinso palace, and commended the government for taking such an initiative.

He also commended Nana Wiafe Akenten III for his tremendous efforts at putting in place measures to ensure that the project became a reality.

He underscored that all other unfinished roads, including the inside of St Patrick Hospital and Midwifery, would be addressed soon.

He also commended the Regional Engineer, staff, and members of the Assembly, and all the people of Offinso for their cooperation in making the project successful.

Nana Wiafe Akenten III, Offinsohene, also commended the government for the major infrastructural development being put in place in the municipality to improve the living standards of the residents.

He mentioned some of the projects as the Offinso College of Education auditorium, constructed by the GETFund, the road network and DVLA office.

He also appealed to the government to build a modern market for Abofuor and Akumadan, all in the Offinso Municipality, and reminded the government of vast land which could be developed as a football pitch or even a stadium for the youth in the area, to enable them develop their football talents.
