Cape Coast, April 18, GNA - The Central Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU), Superintendent Charles Oduro, on Tuesday commended drivers in the region, particularly those in the Cape Coast municipality for ensuring that no road accidents occurred during the Easter festivities.
"In fact drivers in the region have done very well and it means they have really made use of the education given to them," he said, adding that they should keep it up.
Mr Oduro who made the commendation in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Cape Coast, attributed the accident free situation to regular highways patrols by the police, adding that drivers were now very cautious.
He expressed the hope it will continue till the end of the year. He said his outfit, would continue with its education and urged all drivers to observe traffic regulations and avoid speeding and overloading. They should also ensure regular maintenance of their vehicles to "avoid preventable accidents".
Mr Oduro advised passengers to board vehicles at approved lorry parks only and avoid confrontations with drivers and that they must report misbehaving drivers to the law enforcement agencies for appropriate action.
