Kibi (E/R), April 20, GNA-The Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amotia Ofori Panin has called on African leaders to speak out against injustices on the African continent if the continent is to move forward.
He said Former South African President, Nelson Madela spoke out against apartheid and now we have a better South Africa for which the whole world is proud of and the late Dr. Martin Luther King spoke out against racism in the USA and now the USA could boost of an African American becoming a President.
Osagyefuo Amotia Ofori Panin was speaking at a durbar of chiefs organized in honour of the visiting Sierra Leonean President to Ghana, Mr. Ernest Bai Koroma at the Okyenhene's Palace at Kibi on Sunday. He said the African continent is faced with the problem of poverty, inadequate health care and inefficient educational system and said African leaders need to work hard to ensure that, together they could build a continent that the future generation would be proud of. Osagyefuo Amotia Ofori Panin said Africa has all the necessary resources to make it, but what is needed is the political will on the part of African leaders to succeed and called for the raising of the level of tolerance among African politicians.
President Koroma said Sierra Leone use to have difficulties in the past but it is now safe and peaceful country. He said currently, the challenge facing Sierra Leone is how to improve upon its service delivery, energy supply and health care and said the country had decided to look within the West African Sub-region for support and invited interested Ghanaian business persons to invest in the country.
President Koroma said with the right investments, Sierra Leone could be the best tourist destination and mining country in Africa. He congratulated the chiefs and people of Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area for their role in the political history of Ghana and the African continent.
In a welcoming address, the Apegyahene of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional area, Nana Asante Bedeatuo narrated the history of Akyem Abuakwa and the contribution of its citizens to the political development of the country.
He said Kibi the headquarters of Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area is small geographically and in terms of population but great in its contribution to the political history of Ghana and Africa as a whole.
