Accra, Sept. 28, GNA - The Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin has begun a tour of the Volta Region to inspect Government forest plantations and other plantations whose owners have benefited from the Forest Plantation Fund.
A statement from the office of the Okyenhene said he would visit plantations in Peki Dzake; Peki Adiedo; Ho; Jasikan; Worawora and Kadjebi and also inspect teak and cedral plantations on the Fodome road and Asato.
The Okyenhene, who is also the Chairman of the Forest Plantation Development Fund Board, would interact with beneficiaries of the Fund including Mr George Tsawodzi, a physically challenged farmer, who has developed a large seedling farm to feed the numerous plantations in the Region.
The statement said the Okyenhene would call on a number of paramount chiefs including Togbega Gabusu Gbi, President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs and the District Chief Executives of Kpando, Hohoe, Kadjebi, Buem and Jasikan Districts.
Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin would pay a courtesy call on the Regional Minister at Ho and join Togbe Afedi XIV, the Paramount Chief, other chiefs and the people of Asogli Traditional area in celebrating this year's Yam Festival at Ho on October 1.
Okyenhene is expected to return to Kyebi on October 2 after attending a thanksgiving service at Ho.
