Ho, May 01, GNA-The Ho branch of the Old Vandals Association (OVA) of the University of Ghana Legon is to explore the possibility of assisting the Ho Municipal Hospital hostel for relatives of its in-patients.
Mr. Essel Mensah, President of the Association gave the hint during a clean-up exercise by its members as part of this year's May Day celebration as well as the Association's yearly social activities. Authorities of the Hospital put the cost of the three-story project at 300,000 Ghana Cedis.
Relatives of the Hospital's in-patients currently perched around the wards to be able to attend to their relatives for as long as they were on admission.
Mr Mensah said the Association was impressed by the rapid transformations taking place in the hospital in terms of its physical infrastructure and service delivery within a very short span of less than five years.
He said this has encouraged members of the Association to use their individual and collective contacts to help the hospital become a hospital of choice for patients in the Volta region.
He said it was time the youth of the region mobilized resources to support its vital institutions to deliver quality services to the populace.
Mr Jasper Ansong, Administrator of the Hospital expressed gratitude to the Association and called on individuals and institutions to provide support in the construction of the hostel.
He said this would resolve the pathetic situation where relatives of in-patients had to find space in front of wards and for the period that their relatives were on admission.
Members of the Association cleared weeds around the facility and carried out general cleaning and later donated assorted foodstuff and soap worth 1,500 Ghana cedis to inmates of the Ho Leprosarium.
