Ajumako (C/R), July 19, GNA - The Ajumako Traditional Council (ATC) on Friday conferred the title "Gyeabuo" on the Omanhene and President of the council, Nana Kwamena Hammah Ababio II, for his courage, hard work and meritorious services for the past 50 years.
Gyeabuo Nana Kwamena Hammah Ababio was installed Omanhene in 1954. The council appointed a seven-man committee to plan and organise a fitting Golden Jubilee to honour the longest reigning Omanhene in the Central Region.
The committee was also charged to look into the circumstances leading to a front-page publication that Nana Hammah was no more a chief for an appropriate action.
Gyeabuo Nana Ababio advised the Council not to panic about the false publication and said efforts have been made to correct the erroneous report.
The Council also announced plans to build a new modern palace with offices meetings of the 43 registered and gazetted chiefs in the area. The Central Regional Minister, Mr Isaac Edumadze commended the chiefs for living in peace and said it is only in unity that the nation could develop.
He assured them of the government's preparedness to raise the image of chieftaincy.
