Onanhene visits Departments, Ministries, Agencies

Techiman (B/A), Feb.3, -Gna- Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw IV, the Omanhene of the Techiman Traditional Area, has stressed that, for the Municipality to develop to a level befitting its status there was the need for a general attitudinal change by workers in their various work places to increase their output.

He therefore, called for hard work and unity among workers without which no fruitful results could be achieved.

Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw made the call when he paid his first visit to some government decentralised Departments, Ministries, Agencies, Boards and Corporations in the Municipality.

The visit took him to Ghana Education Service, Forestry Commission, National Service Secretariat Land Commission, Fire Service, Audit Service, Ghana News Agency, Town and Country Planning Department, Social Welfare, Statistics, Urban Council, Community Development and Building Inspectorate. It was to afford him the opportunity to fraternise with the workers in order to know their problems and also to find how best such problems could be solved.

Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw urged the workers to put in more efforts and offer their rich experiences to improve the Municipality as their contribution towards the building of the nation.

The Omanhene asked them to co-operate with experts in the development plans for the much-needed development projects for the benefit of the people.

He deplored the rampant location of kiosks and containers dotted in many lanes in the Municipality, making it difficult for the work of Fire Service in the instance of disasters and charged Town and Country Planning Department and Building Inspectorate Division to see to the removal of such kiosks and containers.

Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw said, neither the traditional rulers nor the workers in the Municipality were living on an island and therefore, he was going to operate an open door policy in his traditional council in order to achieve development of the Municipality.

Nana Apenteng Fosu-Gyeabour, Bamuhene and Hansuahene of the Techiman Traditional Area asked the workers to be role models by working hard to make an impact in the Municipality.

Mr. Charles Aweh, Municipal Officer of the Town and Country Planning Department on behalf of the various heads of Departments and workers, appreciated the Omanhene's visit which he said, had given them the morale booster to perform better than before.

The workers appealed to the Omanhene to assist in curbing the high rate of wee peddling, child labour, environmental pollution of the Atweredaa stream and the Tano River, among others.

Nana Kwame Owusu, Ankobeahene, Nana Antwi Boasiako, the Akyeamihene and the Senior Registrar of the Traditional Council, Nana Opuna-Wusea Wiredu-Brempong Chief of Kasapin, accompanied him.
