Mfensi (Ash), Aug. 4, GNA - Mr Johnson Nkrumah, 38, an elder of the New Apostolic Church at Ntensere in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District died instantly when he was knocked down by a Mercedez Benz saloon car at the outskirt of Mfensi at the weekend, His daughter, Constance Nkrumah, 16, who was in his company at the time of the incident, is currently on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) following injuries she sustained. A police source told the GNA that the deceased and his daughter were returning from Mfensi after buying some drugs for his sick wife, when the car with registration number GR 200 P from Sunyani, driven by one Twum Barima Ampofo, a banker, veered off the road and hit the two in the pedestrian lane from behind.
The body has since been deposited at the KATH morgue for autopsy, while police are investigating. Meanwhile residents of Tabere, Mfensi and Ntensere along the Mankranso-Abuakwa trunk road have appealed to the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) to erect speed ramps on the road to minimize the spate of accidents in the area.
