The Presidential Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, had an engagement with a section of the clergy in Accra on Tuesday, 1st October 2024, where the men of God offered prayers for the former President.

Key among the clergy in attendance was the founder and leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Apostle Isaac Owusu-Bempah, who even led the prayers for the NDC Flagbearer.

Besides the fact that this event stirred up controversy within the media space, particularly due to the fact that Apostle Owusu-Bempah has been an ardent critic of the former President, people also reacted strongly to the conspicuous absence of Prophet Ebenezer Adarkwa-Yiadom, popularly known as “Prophet One,” at the gathering. This is because the latter has also been recently speaking highly of the former President in his sermons.

While questions are being asked about the absence of Prophet One, a section of the supporters of the NDC have also expressed their disappointment in their party’s leadership for entertaining Apostle Owusu-Bempah, particularly when, according to them, Prophet One has already offered prayers for their Presidential Candidate. One pro-NDC group that has been very vocal is the NDC Ashanti Youth for Mahama.

Below is their statement:

OPAMBOUR HAS DONE IT ALREADY. WE DON’T NEED OWUSU-BEMPAH - NDC Ashanti Youth for Mahama

We, the members of the aforementioned group, have taken notice of the instrumental role played by the founder and leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Apostle Isaac Owusu-Bempah, during our Flagbearer’s engagement with a diverse group of church leaders, which brought together leaders of various denominations, such as the Catholic, Pentecostal, Charismatic, and spiritual churches.

While we commend the leadership of our party for such a great move, we express our disappointment at the fact that Apostle Owusu-Bempah, upon all that he did against John Mahama, would be entertained to the point of playing such a big role at the gathering.

Indeed, his presence at the event was even needless as Prophet Ebenezer Adarkwa-Yiadom, popularly known as Opambour, had already offered prayers for our Flagbearer. Our point is simple. We didn’t need Apostle Owusu-Bempah since Opambour had already done what he did for our Flagbearer at the gathering.

We, therefore, urge our leaders to cut all ties with Apostle Owusu-Bempah since he is not genuinely for us.
