Organisations donate more cash for Asogli Educational Fund

Ho, July 18, GNA - Prospects for the establishment of Universities in the Volta Region are bright, according to Mr. Dickson Pi-Bansah, Chairman of the Asogli Education Committee. He gave the hint when Managements and staff of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), and the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) branches in Ho presented cheques for ten million cedis each towards the Asogli Education Fund on Monday.

Mr. Felix Fiebor, Regional Director of the ECG and Mr Samuel Quaye, Area Manager of the Ho Zone of the GCB presented the cheques on behalf of their respective organisations.

Mr. Pi -Bansah said two reputable organizations have so far approached the Asogli State authorities to indicate their intentions to establish Universities in the area.

He said proposals have also been drawn towards the rehabilitation of Asogli Technical Institute to replace the former Ho Technical Institute now Ho Polytechnic.

He said enough land has been set aside by the Asogli State for the establishment of such tertiary institution Receiving the cheques on behalf of Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of Asogli, Senior Divisional Chief Togbe Kasa III, thanked the two organisations for their good gesture and reiterated that the Fund was established to support brilliant but needy students throughout Volta Region.

He said accountability and transparency would be the hallmarks in the disbursement of money from the Fund. Togbe Kasa also appealed for donations from individuals.
