Osino District SDA inaugurated

Osino (E/R), July 19, GNA- The President of the East Ghana Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church (SDA), Pastor Kwabena Twum, has condemned a section of the clergy and their followers who, he said, were reducing Christianity to "theological acrobatics."

He said Christianity is based on "tested truths, which a few individuals could not sacrifice for their parochial interests."

Pastor Twum was preaching the sermon to mark the inauguration of the Osino District of the SDA Church at Osino in the Fanteakwa District of the Eastern Region on Sunday.

The new district, which was formerly under the Anyinam district, comprises Adventists at Osino, Hemang, Dwenase, Abompe, Nsutam and nearby communities.

Pastor Twum charged Christians to stand firm against doctrines of impurity and lawlessness, which he noted, were keeping some believers astray.

He stressed the need for Christians to avoid complacency and strive for faith, adding, "it is by so doing that posterity would experience the redeeming power of the saviour Jesus Christ."

In an address read on his behalf, the Chief of Osino, Osabarima Osapanin II, urged churches to lead the crusade for enrolment of all school-going age children in basic schools.

He said it was incumbent on parents to impress upon their children that education was the only means by which poverty, disease and hunger could be eliminated.

Pastor Addai Harrison Baffour, head of the new district, said a one-and-half hectare of land has been bought for the construction of a school and church offices.
