Akim Osino (E/R), Aug. 28, GNA - Members of the Akim Osino Islamic Community in the Fanteakwa District of the Eastern Region, have embarked on socio-economic projects to improve their living conditions. For sometime now, they spend every Sunday to weed their surroundings, desilt gutters to improve on sanitation and as planted trees to serve as windbreaks.
They have also acquired land for the planting of economic trees like citrus and oil palm and food crops including cocoyam, plantain and maize to raise funds for their projects.
A spokesman of the community, Mallam Awudu Chambas, told the Ghana News Agency at Akim Osino on Saturday that the community had appointed him to collect money from the people to fund their projects.
Meanwhile, the Fanteakwa District Assembly had completed the construction of the Islamic Primary School's six-classroom block, office and a store.
