Osu Children's Home receives assorted items.

Accra, Oct. 28, GNA - The Methodist-Presbyterian Students Union (MPSU) Alumni Association of Ghana has donated a variety of items valued at 10 million cedis to the Osu Children's Home at Osu. The items included books for basic education, a bale of second hand clothing, yams, gari and cooking oil.

The presentation forms part of activities marking the fourth annual MPSU Alumni Homecoming scheduled for Saturday, November 8 to Sunday 9. Mr John Dadzie-Mensah, President of the Association, who made the presentation, appealed to members of the general public and organizations to contribute generously towards the development of underprivileged children.

He said there was the need for society to feel duty bound of ensuring the proper up brining of the children at the Home. Mr Dadzie-Mensah also deplored the insensitivity of thieves, who recently raided the Home and succeeded in stealing gas cylinders and other valuable items meant for the up-keep of the children, some a few weeks old.

Receiving the items, Mrs Felicia Opoku Acheampong, a Senior Childcare Officer of Ward Three, said the presentation was timely because the Home had virtually run out of stock of food items for lunch. She said the books would be used at the Homes' Library.
